Peresean / Stick Fighting ~ Pujut Village. Lombok, Indonesia 2010.

 

A fight performed by two men armed with rattan sticks and shields made of cow-hide to protect their body from the strikes. This traditional style of fighting is performed on special events. The Pekembar or the judge determines whether the fight should carry on, or it has become too rough, one fighter is too injured, etc. Traditional music instruments accompany the fighting.
