The cultures of the Papua tribes are fascinating. The island's terrain is rough, mountainous, and covered by rain forest. Communications between villages are by narrow foot paths.  Nowadays Irian Jaya is divided into 2 Provinces: Papua Barat and Papua Timur. Sorong is the capital city of Papua Barat, while Jayapura, the capital of East Papua province, is five hours by plane from Bali. Daily flights connect these two cities via Ujungpandang or Biak. From Jayapura or Sentani, a tour to the hinterland is possible. A police permit is required in order to visit Irian Jaya. We can arrange this for you in Jayapura.

DAY 01 : ARRIVAL JAYAPURA – WAMENA
You fly to Jayapura either by flight from Bali or Jakarta.. Arrival at Jayapura, then take another flight to Wamena at 10.00 – 10.40. Transfer to the hotel. Rest after the long flight.
 
DAY 02 : WAMENA – SOGOKMO – WUSEREM (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel, then drive to Sogokmo. Arrival in Sogokmo, then together withr porter team, walk to Wuserem village. We will be passing through the Dani garden and compound, crossing some small rivers and meet the local people at work. The walk today will be about  5 - 6 hours. Arrival at Wuserem in the afternoon, then stay at the local house.
 
DAY 03 : WUSEREM – PUKAM (B,L,D)
After the breakfast at the local house, walk to Pukam Village. First 2 - 2 1/2 hours of the walk will be ascend up hill, then another 2 - 3 hours of  mix of ascend and slight descent. This is the main road of the locals from Lilibal area to come to Wamena. We may meet some of them on the way, bringing pig, or agriculture product for sale in Wamena. Stay at local house  in Wamena.
 
DAY 04 : PUKAM – WET – LILIBAL (Yali Home)(B,L,D)
Pukam and the other villags on the surrounding area are the homes of the Yali and Dani peoples. Many peoples came from the cross marriage between these two tribes. But some peoples are pure Yali peoples. The walk today will be about 5 - 6 hours. First 1 - 1 1/2 hrs of the walk will be descent to Wet village, then mix of slight ascent and descent till Lilibal. Stay at the local house in Lilibal.
 
DAY 05 : LILIBAL – WET – PUKAM (B,L,D)
Lilibal lies on the edge of the land, very close to the gorge and hills. It is the last village on this route. Explore the local garden and life at Lilibal. Then on the appropriate time, walk back to Pukam and to Wet. Stay at Wet village.
 
DAY 06 : PUKAM – WUSEREM (B,L,D)
Walk back to Wuserem, passing through the same trail we took before.
 
DAY 07 : WUSEREM – SOGOKMO - WAMENA (B,L)
Last walk to Sogokmo and then by car to Wamena. Stay at hotel in Wamena. Time for wash, laundry, etc.
 
DAY 08 : WAMENA – JAYAPURA (B)
Transfer to the airport, then by first flight to Jayapura at 07.00 – 07.40, END OF OUR SERVICE
