Bali Photo of the Week ~ Bali Kites, Kids and Tradition

Today's Bali Photograph is from Padang Galak Beach near Sanur where children from villages all over Bali come to fly their amazing and huge kites. The whole village participates in creating the kites and it is a celebratory time. The tradition is deeply rooted in religious rites, ceremonies and symbolism. Bali Photo of the Week ~ Bali Healer

This week we have a nice shot of one of our yoga and wellness retreat participants on a special trip to a Balian or traditional Balinese healer.

We arrived early in the morning and the healer was finishing up a session with a local villager and her family. You can see how interested our retreat participant was in the 'inner workings' of this healing ceremony.

Patience paid off and soon she had her own private healing session with the Balian.

Today's photo from Bali features a Pemangku or Balinese Hindu High Priest performing a traditional cleansing ritual at Goa Gajah Temple near Ubud, Bali. You can see the carved mouth of the cave in the background. It was created in the 9th century as a meditation sanctuary for a Buddhist monk.

Today's photographic treat from Bali features a troupe of beautiful young Balinese girls performing traditional dance in Jimbaron, Bali.

Beautiful young girls perform traditional Balinese dance in Jimbaron, BaliI appologize for the graininess of the image as I had to take it with my iPhone and it was fairly dark. Nevertheless, I had to share the expression on the adorable girl's face toward the back as she looked over to us.

This shot was taken while on our Bali Art and Culture Tour. We will be leading more traditional art and culture tours in the future and we will be staying at this increadible new Eco-Resort.
