Balifornian Photo of the Day ~ The beautiful and bountiful Islands off the coast of Sumbawa

Heading from Lombok to Sumbawa we encounter numerous islands, many uninhabited, that beakon our interest. The snorkeling, diving and surfing in Sumbawa is some of the best in Indonesia.

Huge turtles swim with us as we play in the turquiose waters of this uncrowded paradise.

Sumbawa doesn't get the crowds of tourists you come across in Lombok or Bali. Liked the picture shared!

Thank you
Yes, its a rugged and beautiful island that does not have the infrastructure of the more touristed islands but the wild beauty is quite a reward, not to mention the surfing. I am currently creating a photo essay on Sumbawa and would love your thoughts on it. More photos to come!
Thank you,
Michael

Sumbawa is an ultra rugged large landmass with Lombok to the West and Flores to the East. It’s not to be confused with the island of Sumba, which lies to its South East. Sumbawa is indeed large. It’s bigger than Bali and Lombok combined (and then some). The scenic island is hard to get to and does not offer a robust infrastructure, but the adventure loving traveler is rewarded with unspoiled beaches of turquoise waters, world class surf and welcoming and gracious locals.
