Balifornian Photos of the Day ~ Sisters getting friendly in Ubud's Monkey Forest

I had a hard time titling today's photo of the day. "Sisters get intimate in The Monkey Forest" sounded cheap and risque. And I was not going to make any bad "monkeying around" puns. But, today's Bali photos show what a great time two recent tour participants had on our Bali Culture Tour. We took April from Los Angeles and her sister Alyson from New York City to visit our simian friends in one of my favorite places, Ubud's Sacred Monkey Forest.

Bali Photo of the Day ~ Cat Napping Dog

Todays photo of the day comes from The Bali Aga Village of Penglipuran.  Penglipuran is known for its main walkway that is lined with traditional houses that lead up to the village temple. Each home along the way features traditional elements, chief among them being the front gates.

Todays photo of the day from Bali is of a longed necked Flamingo striking an almost abstract pose.

It provides sanctuary for over 1000 birds of 250 species.  It also is home to the venemous Komodo Dragon. Balifornian Photo of the Day ~ Colorful Sunset at Kuta Beach, Lombok

A dramatic sunset bid us farewell as we left Kuta Beach in Lombok and headed back to Mataram. Good surf, good food and good company is how the day was spent and it was good to head back home to family and a big delicious dinner. The prices are still very reasonable in Lombok. In fact reasonable is not the word. Inexpensive is more like it as we had large portions of mouth watering chilli crab and crispy duck for four people for under $14 USD.

Sorry, the talk of food got me off track. Here is that photo of the sunset I was talking about...

Balifornian Photo of the Day ~ Handsome Young Fella

While attending a sacred ceremony at Pura Besakih, Bali's Mother Temple, this handsome young fella flashed us his beautiful smile and huge bright eyes.  Thousands of Balinese Hindus flock to temples on Gunung Agung, The holy volcano and the highest point on the island of Bali, for the week long celebration. Mount Agung is the most sacred spot on the island and rises 3142 metres above sea level. Its a trek to get here especially when thousands of others are attemtping to navigate the small winding roads to give their offerings to the Gods, but its well worth it.
